Oasis Café is a real hidden gem in the heart of York. From the moment you walk in, there’s a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy your visit. The café has a modern, cosy feel, and it’s clear a lot of care has gone into creating a comfortable space. The food is a real highlight—fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. Whether it’s a hearty breakfast, a light brunch, or something sweet, everything is made with quality ingredients and served in generous portions. It’s the kind of place where you can tell the dishes are prepared with attention and pride. What really stands out, though, is the friendly and attentive staff. Service is consistently welcoming and efficient, helping create a genuinely enjoyable experience from start to finish. All in all, Oasis Café is a fantastic spot for great food, a relaxed vibe, and excellent service—definitely worth a visit when you’re in York.

After a few pretty average breakfasts around York, Oasis Café was an absolute win this morning! Proper full English done right! You can tell they use quality ingredients, the bacon and sausages were spot on, the sourdough toast was fresh and tasty, and the hash brown was perfectly cooked! The Greek staff were genuinely warm and lovely, which made the whole experience feel welcoming and relaxed, not just “order, eat, leave.” Service like that makes a big difference. Honestly one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in York so far! Great food, great people, and finally a place that lives up to the hype. 5 stars all round!!

This was a vegetarian’s dream meal (even meat lovers would appreciate this one)! The tastes, textures, fresh herbs, variety and portions checked all the boxes for me. I was greeted and treated with smiles and great service. Charming atmosphere and convenient location near the river. Excellent food and price.

Visited three days in a row. Well worth a visit, food and service was excellent. We really enjoyed our "toasted" fruit scones! That was a first for us. Meals are freshly prepared to order. Well worth a visit. Compliments to the team and management. Rgds, John.

We visited this diner a few weeks ago now on Valentine’s Day, so I fully appreciate a little time has passed before writing this, but it’s one of those experiences that stuck with me. First off, the atmosphere was genuinely lovely. It had a really nice buzz about it, especially for Valentine’s lunch-time, and the staff all seemed friendly and welcoming when we arrived. My girlfriend had the eggs Benedict and a berry smoothie, both of which she really enjoyed. No complaints there at all, she was very happy with her choice. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for mine. We’d actually chosen to visit after seeing the pistachio pancakes on Instagram as they looked incredible. On the menu they were described as “fluffy,” which sealed the deal for me. I also understand that the photo on Instagram was taken roughly 10 months prior so the recipe may have changed. However, what arrived looked absolutely nothing like the photo online. Instead of thick, fluffy stacks with strawberries and pistachio ice-cream (which, granted the ice-cream and strawberries were not advertised on the menu just shown on the Instagram post), I was served three pancakes that were as thin and flat as paper with several dollops of whipped cream and the pistachio. For £13, it honestly felt like a bit of a rip-off. I’ll attach the Instagram photo alongside what we were served because the difference was pretty striking. I also ordered a hot chocolate which, ironically, arrived genuinely freezing. It actually tasted nice though, but it definitely wasn’t hot. I also paid 90p extra for “cream and marshmallows” but did not receive any marshmallows. I didn’t want to make a fuss on Valentine’s Day, so I left it. Coincidentally, at almost the exact same moment, another woman near us stood up to complain that her coffee was cold too. We were seated near the kitchen and could hear a male staff member shout back in disbelief, “It’s cold????” which didn’t exactly fill us with confidence. To be fair, I wasn’t intending to send anything back or ask for replacements. I simply planned to mention it when a member of staff did the usual “Is everything okay with your meal?” check-in that most places tend to do. However, after our food was served, nobody came back to ask how things were, and nothing was mentioned when we paid. It’s a shame really, because the place itself is nice, the atmosphere was good, and the staff seemed pleasant. But when you’re paying those prices, especially £13 for three paper-thin pancakes and receiving cold drinks, it does make it hard to justify returning so we likely won’t. There was also a sympathy laugh shared between my girlfriend and I when we could hear the staff panicking that they’d run out of cutlery. An issue undoubtedly not the fault of the staff, but an issue that seemed rather wild considering the relatively modest size of the diner. Hopefully this is taken as constructive feedback, as with a few small improvements it could have been a completely different experience.
